Editorial policy and how we make money

We take sponsorship. Here is exactly what it buys, what it does not, and how to get a mistake fixed.

MNMRR Nerds Editorial TeamUpdated

The short version

We take money from sponsors. Every placement is labelled. Sponsorship does not buy a score, a ranking position, the removal of a criticism, or sight of a review before it publishes.

If that were not true, this site would be worth nothing to you, and a site worth nothing to you is worth nothing to a sponsor either. The incentives point the same way for once.

How we make money

Sponsorship. DialSheet is our anchor sponsor as of 2026-09-04. We removed all banner and in-article placements in September 2026, because a review site covered in units for one vendor reads as bought. The relationship is now disclosed with a label wherever the product appears in a ranking or table, and that is the whole of it.

Affiliate links. Some outbound links to vendors are affiliate links, which pay us a referral fee. These are marked with a sponsored or nofollow relationship attribute in the page's HTML, and the presence or absence of an affiliate relationship never affects a ranking position.

Nothing else. We do not sell leads, we do not sell your data, and we do not run programmatic advertising.

What sponsorship buys

  • A labelled disclosure wherever the product appears, so readers know the relationship exists
  • A link, with UTM parameters so the sponsor can measure it
  • A review written to exactly the same standard as every other, which for our current sponsor means five stated weaknesses

What sponsorship does not buy

  • A score. Scores come from the rubric on our methodology page and nowhere else.
  • A ranking position. Where a competitor is the better answer for a given reader, the competitor ranks above the sponsor, and several pages on this site do exactly that.
  • Removal of a criticism. Our sponsor's review lists five specific weaknesses.
  • Pre-publication review. Sponsors see published pages at the same time you do.
  • Freedom from comparison. The sponsor appears in comparison tables next to competitors that beat it on specific criteria, with those criteria named.

How we label things

"Sponsor" appears next to a product in any ranking or table where we have a commercial relationship with its vendor. The label is deliberately plain: we do not highlight, colour or decorate a sponsor's row, because a decorated entry reads as an advertisement even when the ranking is earned.

Outbound links to vendors carry a sponsored relationship attribute where a commercial relationship exists, and a nofollow attribute otherwise.

Ranked list positions are editorial. If a sponsor holds the first position on a list, it is because the rubric put it there, and the reasoning is printed on the page along with the tradeoffs.

What we will not publish

  • A review of a product we have not examined, presented as though we had
  • A price we cannot trace to a source
  • A comparison that omits the case where the other tool wins
  • A "best of" list where every entry is a paying advertiser

Corrections

Vendor pricing in this category changes constantly and without notice. If something on this site is wrong, tell us at hello@mrrnerds.com and we will correct it and date the correction.

We would rather be corrected in public than be quietly stale. Every page carries a verification date so you can see how old the numbers are.

Conflicts of interest

Where the site's owner has a commercial interest in a product we cover, that relationship is disclosed on the product's review page and on this page. DialSheet is our anchor sponsor, and that relationship is disclosed on every page it appears on rather than only in the small print here.

That disclosure is the reason the sponsor's review has to be honest. A review that reads as an advertisement, on a site that has already told you the relationship exists, is worse than useless: it tells the reader the rest of the site cannot be trusted either.

Data and privacy

We do not require an account. We do not collect personal information beyond standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics. We do not sell anything about you to anyone.
