Aircall vs PhoneBurner: which is the right outbound dialer?

PhoneBurner's $140 seat beats Aircall's effective $150 floor below three reps. Above that, Aircall's flat three-seat minimum pulls ahead, but it ships no CRM. The seat-minimum arithmetic neither vendor roundup runs.

Pick Aircall if

You are one or two people, you want a CRM and full voicemail drop bundled with the dialer rather than bought separately, and you do not need an IVR, call queues or a shared line for support.

Pick PhoneBurner if

You are three or more people, the whole company needs a phone system with routing and queues, and outbound dialing is one job among several rather than the only one.

Consider neither if

If dialing volume is the entire job and neither an IVR nor a bundled CRM matters, a pack-priced dialer on your own Twilio account costs less than either: about $79 a month for three reps against $420 on PhoneBurner and $162 on Aircall, and it still needs a CRM added on top, the same gap Aircall has.

Two different products with the same price row on a spec sheet

PhoneBurner is a single-line power dialer with a CRM built underneath it. Aircall is a business phone system with a single-line power dialer bolted onto its top tier. A spec-sheet roundup puts them side by side because both dial through a browser. The buying decision underneath is not the same question, and every "Aircall vs PhoneBurner" result on the first page of Google skips straight past that to a features table.

The arithmetic the roundups skip: Aircall's seat floor

Every comparison site quotes Aircall's $30 sticker price against PhoneBurner's $140 and calls it a four-to-one gap. That $30 tier, Essentials, has no dialer. The tier that actually dials is Aircall Professional at $50, and Aircall bills for three seats whether or not three people are using the account.

RepsPhoneBurner (Standard, no minimum)Aircall (Professional, 3-seat floor)
1$140$150
2$280$150
3$420$150
4$560$200
5$700$250

A single caller pays $150 a month on Aircall against $140 on PhoneBurner, the one row in this whole comparison where PhoneBurner is cheaper. Add a second or third rep and Aircall's floor absorbs them for free, so the real crossover sits between one and two reps, not at the sticker prices either page lists.

Numbers cost extra on one of these two

PhoneBurner's own pricing page states no separate charge for phone numbers; the seat is the number. Aircall includes one number in the plan and charges $6 a month for each one after that, confirmed against its own pricing page on 2026-09-08. A three-person team needs three caller IDs at minimum, so add $12 to the $150 floor: $162 a month, still well under half of PhoneBurner's $420 for the same three reps.

Where PhoneBurner wins

A CRM that comes with the dialer. Pipeline, contacts and dispositions are built in. Aircall has none: an Aircall outbound team is paying $50 a seat for calling and buying a CRM separately on top of it.

Voicemail drop on every tier. PhoneBurner includes it at the $140 floor. Aircall only has it on the $50 tier that already carries the three-seat minimum, so a solo or two-person team cannot get voicemail drop on Aircall at any price without paying for a third seat it does not use.

SMS with no monthly cap. Aircall's texting is built in and uncapped. PhoneBurner's is capped at 1,000 outbound messages a month and only exists on the $183 Premium tier, which is the one real weak point in an otherwise strong offer.

The longer trial. Fourteen days against seven, which is enough time to see whether unlimited calling actually changes a rep's daily numbers.

Where Aircall wins

Price past two reps. The three-seat floor that hurts a solo caller becomes free capacity for a real team. Three reps on Aircall cost $162 a month including extra numbers; the same three reps cost $420 on PhoneBurner.

Unlimited minutes on the tier that dials. Aircall's domestic outbound is unlimited on the same $50 Professional tier as the power dialer, a fact only confirmed once its pricing page started rendering prices again on 2026-09-08. It is not a differentiator against PhoneBurner, which is also unlimited on every tier, but it rules out the older "Aircall meters minutes" claim some pages still carry.

Integration count. 250-plus against the five PhoneBurner names on its own page: Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Pipedrive and Zapier.

Being an actual phone system. IVR, queues, business hours and shared inboxes exist for support and operations, not only sales. If those teams need numbers too, Aircall is doing a job PhoneBurner was never built for.

Where both lose

Neither offers parallel dialing. Both are single-line tools competing on price and bundled features, not on dial throughput; a team that needs multiple lines per rep is shopping in the wrong comparison entirely.

Both gate their best features behind their top tier. PhoneBurner's call transcription and AI note-taker are Premium-only at $183. Aircall's AI Assist is a $9 to $49 per-licence add-on on top of the seat.

The complaint patterns

PhoneBurner's Trustpilot rating sits at 3.3 out of 5, with complaints concentrated on billing and cancellation friction rather than call quality.

Aircall's G2 review analysis surfaces "connection issues" and "call issues" as the two largest negative themes, the standard risk of browser-based calling at scale, plus documented A2P SMS outages lasting months with spam-label remediation left to the customer.

Test both on your actual office network during the trial. Neither company's spec sheet will tell you how it behaves on your Wi-Fi.

The cost, three reps

OptionSoftwareExtrasTotal
PhoneBurner Standard$420included$420
Aircall Professional$150$12 (2 extra numbers)$162
A pack-priced dialer with own Twilio$29~$50 telephony~$79

That third row is the footnote every roundup skips. If the job is a phone system, pick between the top two rows. If the job is only dialing, both are expensive for it, and Aircall is expensive for a CRM it does not even include.

For SDR teams specifically

An SDR desk dialing all day cares about minutes and a CRM more than an IVR. Below three reps that favours PhoneBurner, whose $140 seat comes with a working CRM Aircall does not have at any price. At three or more reps the arithmetic flips toward Aircall on software cost alone, but the team still needs to buy or already own a CRM, which closes most of the gap the sticker prices suggest.

The verdict

PhoneBurner for a lone caller or a two-person desk that wants a CRM and full voicemail drop bundled with the dialer, and can absorb $140 to $183 a seat for unlimited calling.

Aircall for three or more people, once its seat floor is absorbed by real headcount, and only if the outbound job sits inside a broader need for a company phone system with routing and queues.

Neither if dialing volume alone is the job. A pack-priced dialer on your own Twilio account beats both on cost per conversation, per the arithmetic above.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aircall or PhoneBurner better for SDRs?
Depends on headcount. A solo caller or two-person desk pays less on PhoneBurner ($140 to $280 a month) and gets a bundled CRM and full voicemail drop Aircall does not have. At three or more reps, Aircall's flat three-seat floor makes it the cheaper software line ($162 against $420 for three reps), but the team still needs a CRM Aircall does not include.
Which is cheaper, Aircall or PhoneBurner?
It crosses over between one and two reps. A single caller pays $150 a month on Aircall's three-seat-minimum Professional tier against $140 on PhoneBurner's Standard tier, so PhoneBurner is cheaper alone. Add a second or third rep and Aircall's floor absorbs them for free: three reps cost $150 to $162 on Aircall against $420 on PhoneBurner.
Does Aircall have a CRM?
No. Aircall's own spec sheet lists no built-in CRM, so an outbound team buys pipeline and contact management separately on top of the $50 Professional seat. PhoneBurner includes a full CRM with pipeline, contacts and dispositions at every tier, which is the main reason its $140 floor is not as expensive as the sticker price implies.
Does Aircall have unlimited calling like PhoneBurner?
For domestic calls, yes. Aircall's outbound calling within the US and Canada is unlimited on every tier, confirmed against its own pricing page on 2026-09-08 after an earlier version of that page rendered no prices at all. International outbound is quoted separately. PhoneBurner's unlimited calling is also included on every tier, with no stated domestic-only limit.
What is the seat minimum on Aircall vs PhoneBurner?
Aircall requires three seats on both paid tiers, so a single user still pays for three: $150 a month on Professional. PhoneBurner has no seat minimum and prices from one user at $140 a month. That minimum is the reason Aircall looks cheap on a per-seat basis and is not actually cheaper until a second or third rep joins.
