Apollo sells contact data with a dialer attached, and it prices the dialer in credits rather than dollars. That single choice is what makes its cost hard to compare, and it is what this page exists to do.
The tiers
| Tier | Price | Unit | Power dialer | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | est. $0 | per user per month | No | 900 credits per seat per year. No dialer. |
| Basic | est. $49 | per user per month, annual | Yes | $59 monthly. US dialer included, billed in credits. |
| Professional | est. $79 | per user per month, annual | Yes | $99 monthly. 4,000 recorded minutes. |
| Organization | est. $119 | per user per month, annual | Yes | $149 monthly. 8,000 recorded minutes. |
Prices read from www.apollo.io/pricing on 2026-09-04, archived the same day. Figures are a dated third-party estimate from costbench.com (verified 2026-07-26), not published vendor pricing, and are labelled as an estimate wherever they appear on this site. The full record is in the verification log.
The credit model, converted to money
Dialing burns two credits a minute. Credits also buy contact records, so the meaningful cost of a call is the data you did not buy with the same credits.
| Rep profile | Talk minutes a month | Credits consumed by calling |
|---|---|---|
| Light, 30 dials a day | ~250 | ~500 |
| Standard SDR, 150 dials a day | ~1,166 | ~2,332 |
| Heavy caller | ~3,000 | ~6,000 |
Set that against 900 credits per seat per year on the free plan and the shape of the problem is clear: the free tier cannot carry a caller at all, and on paid tiers a full-time dialer consumes a serious share of the pool every month. Recorded minutes cap separately at 4,000 on Professional and 8,000 on Organization, and one source reports a roughly 1,000 minute per seat monthly cap on the dialer at Professional.
What Apollo is worth paying for
If you are buying contact data anyway, Apollo's dialer is effectively free and removes an integration. For a team making thirty calls a day alongside email, that is the right trade.
Apollo's database and sequencing are the product, and they are good. 4.7 on G2 across roughly 9,428 reviews is the largest review base in this dataset by a distance. For a team running email-led outbound with calling as a secondary channel, having the dialer inside the same tool as the data and the sequences removes a real integration and a real cost.
Where it costs more than it should
- Dialing consumes credits at two per minute, competing with contact data for the same budget. Source, confirmed 2026-09-04.
- Recorded minutes cap at 4,000 on Professional and 8,000 on Organization. Source, confirmed 2026-09-04.
- The dialer is noticeably less capable than a purpose-built power dialer. Source, confirmed 2026-09-04.
- Parallel dialing is a paid add-on on top of the seat price. Source, confirmed 2026-09-04.
The same three seats elsewhere
| Tool | Software a month, 3 seats | Minutes | All in a month | A year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apollo.io | est. $147 | Billed on top | Software plus metered minutes | Not computable |
| DialSheet | $29 | $52 own carrier | $81 | $972 |
| JustCall | $147 | Bundled | $147 | $1,764 |
| Close CRM | $297 | Billed on top | Software plus metered minutes | Not computable |
| PhoneBurner | $420 | Bundled | $420 | $5,040 |
Apollo's row is software only. Add the credit consumption above, which is the part that does not appear on an invoice as a calling cost.
The sensible arrangement for a calling-heavy team is usually both: keep Apollo for data and sequences at whatever tier your data volume requires, and run the calls through a dedicated dialer so the credits stay pointed at contact records. Three seats on a pack-priced dialer with your own carrier is about $81 a month, which is less than the tier difference between Apollo Basic and Professional for three users.
DialSheet is the cheapest row and is built by the author of this site. It has no contact database, no email sequencing of Apollo's depth, and no native connector to Apollo, so pairing them today means CSV or the API. Where DialSheet loses covers the rest.
Before you sign
- Work out your monthly talk minutes and multiply by two to get the credit burn.
- Check that against the credits your tier includes, after the contact records you plan to pull.
- Confirm the recorded-minute cap on your tier, which is 4,000 on Professional and 8,000 on Organization.
- Price parallel dialing separately if you need it, since it is an add-on.
- If calling is your primary channel, price a dedicated dialer alongside Apollo rather than upgrading a tier to buy minutes.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does Apollo.io cost?
- The free plan is $0 with 900 credits per seat per year and no dialer. Basic is $49, Professional $79 and Organization $119 per user per month on annual billing, or $59, $99 and $149 monthly. Figures are a dated third-party estimate from costbench.com (verified 2026-07-26) and are labelled as an estimate wherever they appear here.
- Does Apollo's free plan include the dialer?
- No. The free plan carries 900 credits per seat per year and no dialer. Calling starts at the Basic tier.
- How do Apollo credits work for calling?
- Dialing consumes credits at two per minute, drawn from the same pool that buys contact data and email addresses. That is the part buyers miss: every hour on the phone is 120 credits that cannot be spent on prospect records. Recorded minutes are separately capped at 4,000 on Professional and 8,000 on Organization.
- Is Apollo's dialer good enough for full-time cold calling?
- For thirty calls a day alongside email sequences, yes, and the integration you avoid is worth something. For a rep dialing 150 numbers a day it becomes the constraint: the dialer is noticeably less capable than a purpose-built one, parallel dialing is a paid add-on, and the credit burn competes with the data budget that is the reason you bought Apollo.
- What is a better dialer to pair with Apollo?
- A dedicated dialer alongside Apollo for data. DialSheet at $29 a month for a 3-seat pack with minutes on your own Twilio account is the cheapest, and it is built by the author of this site. JustCall at $49 a seat with unlimited outbound is the option with the deepest integration catalogue. Either keeps your Apollo credits pointed at contact data.
